In today’s blog I am expressing my thoughts about the quote “Eat to Live not Live to Eat”. Once upon a time we may have heard this quote. I now try to live by those words. Often times I want to eat just anything that I think tastes good but I stop and remember that food is healing our bodies. And a great way I have found to consume those healing foods is through smoothies.
Smoothies are easy to incorporate in our daily lives and can be delicious and fulfilling. It is easy to get a blender out and make a smoothie. Often times I think it’s a lot of trouble and money to eat right but I know when we pay attention, while consciously making good decision about what we eat and what we put in our body, we feel so much better. We must remember it is not always about ourselves. It may be about our children, spouses, parents and friends who are counting on us to be healthy. So if we can’t make the right choices for ourselves maybe we can make the right choices because someone else is depending on us.
So introduce smoothies into your life and enjoy the benefits. You can actually freeze it and unthaw it to be consumed later in the day if you don’t want to drink it immediately.
Here is a good easy delicious recipe:
- 4 ounces Orange/Mango juice
- 1 cup of Spinach
- 1 cup Frozen Mango
- 1 Cup Frozen Strawberries
- 1 Frozen Banana
